Cannot Connect Wondercode to USB

:light_bulb: Using this template is recommended — you may also edit it freely, but you must fully describe your product and the problem (at least: product name, version, and problem description).

Product model / kit: DadaBlock Advanced
Version / specs:Chipset CH340C
Purchase channel:Amazon
Controller / main board:K12ESP32
OS / software / firmware version: OS Win11
Image version:wondercode v2.2.8
Tutorial or steps followed:Connecting to USB COM Port

Problem description:Cannot connect to Com Port, no connection

Error messages / logs / screenshots: None, no action available under ConnectDevice function in Wondercode menu

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Start up Wondercode
    2.Connect controller to USB Cable
    3.Turned on Controller
  2. Start up WonderCode
  3. Load Project
  4. Click on Connect

What you have already tried: Swapping USB cables, reinstalling Chipset firmware
removing and reinstalling firmware, tried different PC and installed Wondercode on that

Additional notes: Device for controller not showing in Device Manager USB devices. Using

WonderCode cannot list a connection until Windows detects the controller as a COM port. Please check the following:

  1. In WonderCode, open Extensions, select Controller, and add K12 ESP32.
  2. Set the controller switch to ON, then connect the USB data cable specifically to the controller’s program download port, not its charging port.
  3. Open Device Manager > Ports (COM & LPT) and look for a port containing CH340. Select that port in WonderCode. Do not select COM1, which is normally a system communication port.
  4. If no CH340 COM port appears, use WonderCode’s Help function to install the driver, then reconnect through another USB port with a confirmed data-capable cable.

Since you have already tried multiple cables and another PC, please post clear photos of the connected controller showing the USB port used and its LEDs, plus a screenshot of Device Manager with Ports (COM & LPT) and Other devices expanded. This will help determine whether Windows is detecting the USB interface at all.

Thank you for your recent email regarding the detection issue with the dadablock CH430 chipset device.

We have reviewed your feedback and noted that the solution involves flipping the USB-C cable at the end that connects to the Hiwonder controller — after which Windows Device Manager successfully detects the device.

We greatly appreciate you sharing this valuable insight. We have already passed it along to our internal team for review and documentation. Should other users encounter a similar issue in the future, we will certainly recommend this approach as a potential solution.

Thank you again for your contribution.
